1. This cable contains an action request, please see
paragraph 3.

2. Per reftel request, Poloff asked Nestan Bejanishvili,
Third Secretary for the Security Policy and Euro-Atlantic
Integration Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
whether Georgia would attend the Fourth Global Initiative
(GI) meeting in Madrid and if the participants would be
willing to give a presentation at the meeting. Bejanishvili
said that the Foreign Ministry planned to send two
representatives: Mr. George Dolidze, Deputy Director for
Security Policy and Euro-Atlantic Integration; and Mr. Vasil
Rubashvili, GI Point of Contact for Georgia, Second Secretary
of the New Threats and Arms Control Division, Department for
Security Policy and Euro-Atlantic Integration. She said that
the participants currently plan to give a presentation on the
current steps Georgia is taking to combat nuclear terrorism,
but would consider the ideas raised in reftel for their
presentation as well. Bejanishvili said that the Foreign
Ministry did have some funds to cover a portion of the travel
costs for Mr. Dolidze and Mr. Rubashvili, and asked if the
USG had additional funds to help cover the cost of airfare
and hotel expenses.

3. Action: Post requires guidance on whether the Department
has available funding sources to support the Georgian
delegation's travel to Madrid.
