1. At its June 2008 session, the UN NGO Committee of the UN
Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) rejected the Human
Rights Foundation's application for ECOSOC consultative
status. Department concurs with USUN's recommendation that
the United States should try to overturn the Committee's
decision during the June-July 2008 session of ECOSOC.
2. Department will prepare a demarche cable urging
like-minded member states to support this course of action
when ECOSOC meets in late June and most of July.
