1. (C) Department understands that the Government of
Malaysia will permit four Iranian defense entities to begin
participating in the Defense Services Asia expo on Tuesday,
April 22 (reftels).
2. (C) Should the Iranian companies open their exhibits,
Post is instructed to end all USG association with the DSA
expo, including the immediate closure of all USG exhibits.
3. (C//Rel Malysia) Post may inform the GOM of continuing
U.S. concern that through their expo participation the
Iranian exhibitors may be violating the UNSCR 1747
prohibition on the transfer by Iranian nationals of arms or
related materiel, a matter which may need to be referred to
the Security Council 1747 Committee.
