REF: EDMONDSON/WILCOX E-MAIL OF 3/27/2008
1. This is an action request. Please see paragraph 2.
2. USUN is directed to send a letter to the Office of the
Legal Advisor (OLA) at the United Nations. The letter should
request OLA assistance with a Department of Justice
investigation into whether an Indian company called Ranbaxy
violated U.S. laws by conspiring to defraud the U. S.
Government in connection with the sale by Ranbaxy of generic
pharmaceuticals. The Justice Department investigators are
requesting copies of UNICEF records related to Ranbaxy's sale
of pharmaceuticals to UNICEF. Per ref e-mail, USUN has a copy
of the Justice Department request.
