SUBJECT: FUNDING FOR TRAVEL BY ALGERIAN NUCLEAR EXPERTS


1. The Department,s Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction
has invited two nuclear experts from Algeria to attend the
Waste Management Conference being held March 1-5, 2009, in
Phoenix, Arizona. On December 2, 2008, Merzak Remki,
Director of Cooperation of the Algerian Atomic Energy
Commission nominated Mr. GHEZAL Abdennasser, Director of the
Division of Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection, Nuclear
Research Center of Draria and Mr. FELLOUH Abdelhakim Sami,
Head of the Department of Radiation Protection, Nuclear
Research Center of Draria. Remki further noted that the
official proposal would be confirmed by the Ministry of
Energy, with copies to the U.S. Embassy in Algiers.


2. We request that Post use the fund cite below to cover the
costs of the two nuclear experts, air travel, lodging,
transportation to and from the airport, registration fees,
and a fixed allowance for meals and incidentals along with
reimbursement of applicable visa fees for obtaining a U.S.
visa using the following fund cite information.
