(U) PolOff delivered reftel demarche to Ministry of Foreign
Affairs Human Rights Expert, Kameliya Petrova on June 3.
Petrova commented that Ambassador William Swing was an
impressive candidate for International Organization for
Migration Director General. She said that Bulgaria would
ultimately make its decision based on the candidates'
qualifications and their vision for the organization. As an
European Union member, Petrova said that Bulgaria is awaiting
the EU position, particularly given the global nature of
migration policies. Petrova promised that Ambassador Swing's
candidature would receive full consideration.
