SUBJECT: MACEDONIA: POINTS DELIVERED ON OUTREACH TO PRIVATE
SECTOR FOR GLOBAL INITIATIVE TO COMBAT NUCLEAR TERRORISM

REF: STATE 5399

(SBU) Poloff delivered reftel points on outreach to the
private sector for the Global Initiative (GI) to Combat
Nuclear Terrorism to MFA State Counselor for Multilateral
Affairs Svetlana Geleva on January 25. Geleva noted that
Macedonia continues to support the GI and that she would
share the points with her partners in other Ministries, but
indicated that she saw a very limited role for the private
sector in Macedonia in issues related to nuclear terrorism.
She further indicated that the GOM has not had a chance to
participate in the past two annual meetings of the GI, but
added that she hopes to represent Macedonia at the next
meeting and asked for information on the time and location
for the next GI meeting.
