ACT

REF: STATE 126654

Post delivered demarche in Reftel on December 3 to Anh
Chong-ghee, Director General for Bilateral Trade, Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT),and provided copies of the
talking points to MOFAT's Division of Climate Change and
Environment and to the International Cooperation Office of
the Ministry of Environment. Post followed up by phone
December 10 with Hong Sok-kwang, Deputy Director at MOFAT
North America Trade Division. Hong expressed appreciation
for the information, which helped clarify the question
Director General Ahn had raised during the most recent
bilateral trade discussions, namely, "What is the schedule
for phased-in enforcement of the declaration requirement?"
He said MOFAT would contact Post or Washington through the
Korean Embassy if they had any further questions or response.
