(C) Poloff delivered reftel demarche to Ieva Jirgensone, the
MFA's acting head of the Arms Control Unit. Jirgensone
stated that Latvia did not participate in PSI outreach
activites last year, but could benefit from commodity
identification training, especially for customs officials.
Three years ago the USG provided scanners and technical
training to Latvia, but the technology is always changing and
updates are needed to achieve continuity. Jirgensone was
anxious to learn of availability and timing for the delivery
of this training.
