(C) On September 25, reftel A demarche was transmitted to MFA
Deputy DAS-equivalent for Disarmament and Multilateral
Cooperation Minh-di Tang, who provided informal, preliminary
feedback that given the importance of solidarity among the
P-5, the French would likely join the U.S. in opposing the
two possible resolutions. Tang and DAS-equivalent Jacques
Raharinaivo previously provided preliminary support for the
draft U.S. resolution (ref B),as reported in ref C. Post
will report more details following the interministerial
coordination meeting this week in which the formal French
positions will be decided.
