(C) On September 24, DCM, accompanied by PolOff, delivered reftel
demarche to Alain Ilboudo, Secretary General of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs. Ilboudo recognized the importance of not allowing
Abkhaz and South Ossetian representatives to share their views in an
international forum in a way that gives them legitimacy. However,
Ilboudo said Burkina Faso was going to refrain from taking a position
at this time but would be continuing its internal deliberations.
Burkina Faso would continue to observe the situation and notify the
Embassy when they have a position on the issues, said Ilboudo.
