DIRECTOR SELECTION

(SBU) On September 17, PolOff presented reftel demarche to Mr.
Dieudonne Sougouri and Mr. Der Kogda, the incumbent and incoming
Directors for International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. Kogda and Sougouri said they had not received any
information on other candidates for the United Nations Program on
HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) position and asked how many people had been
short-listed. Kodga was pleased that a candidate from West Africa
was one of the top choices and agreed that Mr. Michel Sidibe's
experience qualified him to be the UNAIDS executive director. Kodga
said he would pass the information provided to his superiors. Post
will follow-up with further information if received.
