1. (C) Poloff spoke with Erling Skjonsberg, Senior Advisor in
the MFA nonproliferation section, to discuss reftel.
Skjonsberg noted our caution that technical knowledge
acquired by Syria for the proposed nuclear plant could be
diverted, and said that Norway has no present plans to
cooperate on such assistance. Skjonsberg said that if any
cooperation were to be considered at a future point, Norway
would closely consult with its allies, including the US.
