1. (SBU) Poloff met with Oyvind Johansen and Kjersti Rodsmoen
of the Latin America section of the MFA to deliver reftel
points. While generally supportive of our talking points,
they inquired what kinds of evidence (if any) had been used
by the governments of Bolivia and Venezuela to support their
claims. They said the Norwegian embassy in La Paz is closely
monitoring the situation, and they were curious how many
Americans have left Bolivia. They cautiously characterized
the situation in Bolivia as "calming down" (as of September
18 in the afternoon).
