JUNE 23 VIENNA CONFERENCE

Per reftel, PolOff on June 9 demarched Cypriot MFA Middle
East Desk Officer Dionysus Dionysiou regarding GOC attendance
and support for the June 23 Vienna Conference on
reconstruction of Lebanon's Nahr Al-Barid refugee camp.
Dionysiou confirmed that the GOC will send a representative
to the conference. Schedule permitting, Foreign Minister
Markos Kyprianou himself might attend -- Dionysiou expected
an answer from the FM's office by June 12. If Kyprianou
attends, he will also participate in the June 24 Berlin
Conference in support of Palestinian security institutions
and the rule of law. Dionysiou said that, due to Cyprus's
small size and limited means, it likely would not contribute
financially to the camp's reconstruction.
