PolOff on March 19 demarched Panayiotis Papadopoulos in the
Cypriot MFA's Multilateral Affairs office regarding the
inaugural meeting in Paris of the Global Initative (GI)
Exercise Planning Group (reftel). Papadopoulos accepted the
draft EPG terms of reference and stated that Cyprus "most
probably" would send a representative to the April 15
meeting. MFA colleague Marios Kountourides might serve as
Cyprus's representative, he thought. (Note: Despite
numerous attempts to re-engage the MFA on this matter, as of
March 31 we have not been able to confirm Kountarides's
attendance at the Paris gathering. We will continue to press
for an answer and will forward it to the Department via
email.)
