1. (SBU) The French Embassy informed us that a convoy of
trucks traveling between Agadez and Arlit was attacked the
morning of March 12. One person in the convoy was killed.
The French Embassy also reported that a Canadian mining camp
near Ingall was attacked March 7.

2. (SBU) The Canadian Embassy confirmed the attack on a
facility operated by the Canadian company Global Uranium.
The attackers took two of the three vehicles at the facility.

3. (SBU) Nigerien police contacts report that as of the
evening of March 12, approximately 40 vehicles they believe
belong to the Mouvement des Nigeriens pour la Justice were 5
to 10 kilometers from the town of Arlit. They also report
that the French Ambassador is currently visiting the Areva
uranium facility in Arlit.
