1. (C) During an October 13 meeting with Mohammed al-Hassan,
Director of Political Affairs for Minister of Foreign Affairs
Yusef bin Alawi, Pol-Econ Chief delivered ref A and B
demarches and urged the Omani government to strongly consider
making a contribution to reconstruction efforts in Georgia.
Al-Hassan replied that Oman had no real national interests in
Georgia or the Caucuses region and had more pressing needs
for government funds.
2. (C) Comment: Al-Hassan made clear that Omani financial
aid for Georgia was unlikely. Post accordingly does not
expect Oman to participate in the Georgia Donors' Conference
in Brussels. End Comment.
