SUBJECT: OMAN'S DELEGATION TO 63RD UNGA

1. (SBU) On July 6, Econoff met with Humaid al-Maani,
Director of the Secretary General's Office, Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, to inquire about Oman's planned attendance
at the upcoming 63rd UN General Assembly. Maani replied that
Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Humud al-Busaidi, Secretary
General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, would be leading Oman's
delegation to this year's UNGA. He said that further
information regarding the makeup of the delegation would be
determined at a later date.
2. (SBU) Embassy will report additional information, keyed to
reftel request, once the Omani delegation is finalized. As
for Oman's head of delegation, Sayyid Badr's position in
ministerial-rank, and the Secretary General will not need
interpretation services.
