(SBU) On May 10, Econoff delivered reftel demarche to Dr.
Said al-Riyami, Economic Expert, Ministry of Commerce and
Industry, and Mohammed al-Said, Deputy Chief of the Economic
and Technical Cooperation Department, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. Both agreed that strong leadership would be
essential to building the institutional capacity of the World
Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and took on-board
USG recommendations for the next WIPO Director General.
Embassy will report any substantive response septel.
