1. (S/NF): Summary: Per Reftel, on February 15, Charge Peter
Harding chaired an EAC to discuss the local impact of the
aftermath of Hizballah Leader Imad Mughniyeh's death. The
EAC determined that security posture is appropriate given the
current threat, and no other action needs to be taken at this
time. The Charge chaired the meeting which included
representatives from all agencies and sections at post. End
Summary.
2. (S/NF): Per Reftel, the EAC members met to discuss the
local impact that the death of Iman Mughniyeh's could have on
Embassy facilities and the local security posture. The RSO
and EAC members do not have any specific threat information
regarding protests or attacks related to the Hizballah
incident at this time. The EAC agreed that the present
security posture at U.S. facilities was prudent given the
current world-wide threat. However, RSO plans to meet with
the Local Guard Force and Surveillance Detection Team to
enchance awareness and vigilance. Post continues to monitor
threats against Westerners and Americans and is in contact
with police, military and diplomatic counterparts. Should any
threats materialize the EAC will reconvene to review security
plans.
