Classified By: Charge d'Affaires Michael Koplovsky for Reason(s) 1.4 (b
) and (d)

1. (C) Per REFTEL, EAC met to compare updated information
and to determine follow up action. Based on current data,
there appears to be no immediate threat to AmCits or the
Embassy community. There have been no further reported cases
or deaths attributable to the initial patient and it appears
that transmission is contained at this point in time.

2. (C) All health care workers, family members, and
co-workers associated with the "index" patient have been
tested and determined not to be at risk. The third suspected
case, in South Africa is improving.

3. (C) Medical evacuation service company Specialty
Emergency Services (SES) confirmed that all medevac cases
other than those diagnosed with hemorrhagic symptoms will be
allowed from Zambia to South Africa for emergency care.

4. (U) EAC plans to issue warden message for rumor control
and to reassure AmCits.
