SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ON FORCED LABOR AND CHILD
LABOR IN THE PRODUCTION OF GOODS FOR MANDATORY
CONGRESSIONAL REPORTING REQUIREMENTS.

REF: SECSTATE 41381

(U) According to the Slovenian Ministry of Labor, Family
and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and
Unicef, Slovenia has had neither documented nor alleged cases
of forced labor, debt bondage, or exploitative child labor.
Sandi Curin, Slovenia's national coordinator for the
Interdepartmental Working Group for Countering Trafficking in
Human Beings, confirmed with Emboff that his office is not
aware of any such cases. The Ministry of Labor stated that
Slovenia has one of the strongest and most protected labor
forces in Europe. In 2006, Slovenia actively participated in
supporting the June 12 World Day Against Child Labor. Curin
added that Slovenian non-governmental organizations, such as
Caritas, work to help other countries in Southeast Europe to
reduce cases of forced labor.
