handling energy matters at post.
The P/E Section has 8 employees:

C.) The following are brief narrative descriptions of the
positions of employees that work on energy matters:
- Deputy Counselor/Economic Counselor: Meets with senior
host-government contacts on climate change and manages
reporting on energy developments and Department of Energy
initiatives.
- Economic Officer: Reports on energy developments involving
Portugal, including oil and gas exploration and production
projects and bilateral/multilateral agreements.
- Senior Commercial Officer: Monitors energy sector
developments from the commercial and investment side,
develops contacts within the private sector, and provides
company advocacy and counseling.
- 1 FCS Locally Engaged Staff: Reports on commercial
activities in the sector, promotes U.S. exports by
facilitating company match-making, recruits delegations for
industry trade shows, and conducts market research.
B. The amounts of State Department funds spent by post in FY
2007 on energy-related activities:
- Personnel: 10% of Deputy Counselor/Economic Counselor's
salary; 30% of Economic Officer's salary; 20% of Senior
Commercial Officer's salary; and 80% of 1 FCS Locally Engaged
Staff's salary.
