1. (C) On March 4, CDA briefed MFA U/S Khaled Al-Jarallah on
the upcoming TIP report and expressed concern about the lack
of recent concrete progress on the part of the GOK. CDA
listed the commitments made by the GOK last fall and cited
positive steps taken by some of Kuwait's Gulf neighbors in
combating TIP. CDA also told him that post submitted a list
of questions to the MFA regarding statistics and data but to
date, has not received a response. Jarallah offered full
cooperation on this issue and said that he would do his best
to urge the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and the
Ministry of Interior to do their parts as well. He noted
that the GOK should consult with their counterparts in
neighboring countries to learn from their TIP experiences.
Discussions on Lebanon/Syria, recognition of Kosovo and Iraq
reported septel.
