(SBU) Poloff delivered ref B demarche to Leila Villatoro,
Deputy Director for UN Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs (MFA),and Elisa Oliva, Second Secretary at the MFA,
in advance of the International Organization for Migration's
(IOM) upcoming elections in Geneva. Oliva stated that the
GOG had not decided which candidate it would support as the
IOM's new Director General. Pol/Econ Counselor also
discussed Ambassador Swing's candidacy with Vice Foreign
Minister Lars Pira. Pira commented that while he was aware
the elections would be held on June 18, the GOG had not yet
made a decision regarding the IOM DG candidacy.
