1. (SBU) On May 28, DCM spoke with the Director General of
Sierra Leone's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Umaru
Wurie to thank Sierra Leone for supporting the candidacy of
Ambassador Swing as IOM DG. DCM urged that Sierra Leone
ensure that an official delegate is present in Geneva to cast
Sierra Leone's vote on June 18. Ambassador Wurie said the
Sierra Leone delegate would likely be the Sierra Leone Consul
in Geneva and he will send instructions to this effect. DCM
also provided a non paper with background points on
Ambassador Swing his vision for the IOM.
