(U) Ireland has pledged 1 million euro ($1.55 million) in aid
to Burma and is currently arranging for avenues to disburse
the aid, according to Deputy Director Conleth Brady, Asia and
Oceania Office, Department of Foreign Affairs, to whom POLOFF
delivered reftel demarche on May 12. Brady said that the aid
will go through UN projects and NGOs on the ground in Burma.
Ireland has also released emergency humanitarian stocks of
tents, mosquito netting and other survival goods that will be
shipped to Burma immediately, he concluded.
