the National Parliament of Timor-Leste. Original will be

Senator Barack Obama,

On your election as President of the United States of America I
am very pleased to convey to you my heartfelt congratulations,
on behalf of the National Parliament of Timor-Leste and my own,
with sincere wishes for the success of you mandate and vows of
progress and prosperity for the American people.

Your election constitutes a landmark event and represents as
well the victory of those who believe in a better and more
democratic world. The history of the Timorese people shows how
important this can be.

I am sure that new perspectives for strengthening and deepening
of the ties of friendship and cooperation between our two
peoples will now be open with your election and it is with great
confidence that I anticipate the future progress in our
relations.
