1. Post received Diplomatic Note KA 709/710/01 on July 2 with a
congratulatory message for Independence Day from President Kikwete
be transmitted to President.


2. Begin text:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the
United Republic of Tanzania presents its compliments to the Embassy
of the United States of America and has the honor to request the
esteemed Embassy to forward the following congratulatory message
from H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of
Tanzania to H.E. George W. Bush, President of the United States of
America on the occasion of his country's Independence on 4th July

2008.

The message reads as follows:

"H.E. George W. Bush
Washington D.C.
United States of America

On behalf of the people and Government of the United Republic of
Tanzania and on my own behalf, I wish to convey my sincere
congratulations to you personally, the people and Government of the
United States of America for commemorating the 232nd anniversary of
your country's Independence.

This occasion affords me of yet another opportunity to reaffirm our
commitment to continue working closely together in enhancing and
promoting further the existing relationship and cooperation between
our two countries and peoples for our mutual benefit.

Please accept, your Excellency, my personal best wishes for your
continued good health and prosperity of the people of the United
States.
