The following information is provided in reference to Ref A. The
Front Office and the Economic/Commercial section of the embassy are
engaged in energy matters in Cotonou. The Ambassador spends five
percent of her time on energy matters at an approximate cost of
$16,829. The Political and Economic Officer spends five percent of
his time on energy matters at an approximate cost of $8,904. The
LES economic and commercial assistant spends five percent of his
time on energy matters at an approximate cost of $1,875. The vast
majority of the time spent recently on energy related matters has
been spent in support of the successful bid, by a U.S. company, for
construction of an 80 megawatt power plant (Ref B).
