REF: SECSTATE 121356
(SBU) We provided and discussed reftel Department of Treasury
papers on November 21 with Nikolaj Harris, Head of Section of
the Danish Foreign Ministry's Security Policy office and
Denmark's interagency coordinator for implementation of all
Iran-related economic sanctions. Harris stated that the
Danish Government is already acting on the FATF statement on
Iran by providing internet warnings to businesses with
significant business ties to Iran that their transactions
have a heightened risk of money laundering or terrorist
financing. With regard to additional measures, Harris stated
Denmark is working to build an EU consensus, preferably a
consensus led by France, the UK, and Germany, to implement
tough measures. Harris said EU nations will discuss at a
December meeting the possibility of expanding the Iran
sanctions list to include additional entities and
individuals, an approach that Denmark favors.
