1. (SBU) As part of the interim assessment process for the
USG's annual Trafficking in Person's Report, we asked the
Government of Guinea to provide annual statistics on
trafficking cases within its borders. The GoG was not able
to provide this information before the initial reporting
deadline, so the information contained in this cable is
intended to supplement the interim assessment that Post
submitted under reftel.
2. (SBU) The GoG provided the Embassy with a year-to-date
summary of "statistics on criminality against children" in
mid-November. However, the statistics are virtually
meaningless since the GoG lacks the resources and technical
capacity necessary to develop and maintain an effective
database for tracking criminal activity. With that caveat,
the government's statistics are provided in the table below.
The numbers refer to total number of cases handled.
