1. (SBU) On October 16, Embassy received a paper from the
Russian Embassy in Guinea, entitled "On the Origins of the
Situation Around Abkhazia and South Ossetia." The paper is
nine pages in length, in English, and provides a
chronological history of events dating back to 1810. Post
can scan the paper and submit to the Department if needed.

2. (SBU) During the Ukrainian National Day celebration last
month, the Ukrainian Ambassador was highly critical of
Russia's action in Georgia during his speech. The Russian
Ambassador, who was present at the time, was visibly
uncomfortable.
