SUBJECT: EMBASSY CONAKRY - SITUATION REPORT 15

1. (SBU) As of 16:00 on June 02, Guinea appears to have
returned to business as usual. Schools, markets, and stores
are open for business, and street traffic is at normal
levels. The Guinean Armed Forces are no longer maintaining
any roadblocks or vehicle checkpoints. Embassy has not
received any reports of armed soldiers wandering through
neighborhoods nor of shots fired since May 27.

2. (SBU) President Conte is scheduled to meet with the
mutineers at 10:00 on June 3 at Camp Alpha Yaya, and it is
expected that any remaining details of the negotiations will
be finalized.

3. (SBU) COMMENT. The mutineers appear satisfied with the
promised concessions from the government, and further
violence is not anticipated. Embassy has returned to normal
operations with full staff. No further situation reports
will be submitted as Embassy is returning to normal
reporting. END COMMENT.
