SUBJECT: REPORT OF EMERGENCY ACTION COMMITTEE
1. (SBU) The Emergency Action Committee (EAC) for the Embassy met
to review the current status of the situation in country, with
emphasis on the general strike that has been called for tomorrow.
Detailed political information reported septel.
2. (SBU) All sections and agencies reported being prepared for
possible disturbances in Conakry January 10. Consular section is in
contact with wardens and has extended hours for American Citizen
Services.
3. (SBU) ARSO advised that a radio update would issued tomorrow at
6:15 am to alert embassy employees to the security situation in
Conakry. ARSO also noted that personnel should expect a large
police presence throughout Conakry tomorrow morning.
4. (SBU) GSO and Management reported that all gas tanks for
generators and vehicles have been filled up. RSO reported that all
radios and radio nets have been tested.
4. (SBU) The DCM is the Point of Contact for reporting further
developments.
