Press Service of the President of the Republic of
Moldova
Press release

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir
Voronin, congratulated Barack Obama on the
occasion of his election as President of the
United States of America.

The message says:

"On behalf of the Moldovan people and on my own
behalf, I would like to express to you the warmest
congratulations on the occasion of the brilliant
victory gained during the election for the high
position of President of the United States.

I carefully followed the development of the
electoral campaign in the United States. I must
say that the truly historical choice made by the
American people is a choice in favor of change,
progress and prosperity, based on the fundamental
principles of democracy.

I avail myself of this occasion to reaffirm the
willingness of the Republic of Moldova to further
strengthen and deepen friendship and cooperative
relations with your country in various fields, as
well as to set up new bridges of mutually
advantageous collaboration.

Wishing you success in further activity in your
responsible position of the President of the
United States of America, please accept, Your
Excellency, the assurances of my highest
consideration."
