1. (U) A series of explosions (media reports indicate from three to
nine) rocked Bangalore at approximately 1330 on July 25. Initial
reports indicate that at least one person was killed and 15 injured
by the blasts, which occurred within 12 minutes of each other.
Media also reports that the blasts were "low intensity." Most of
the blasts appear to have occurred in business and industrial areas
in the southern and eastern parts of the city, but at least one
explosion appears to have happened in central Bangalore.
3. (U) There are two USG offices in Bangalore, a Foreign Commercial
Service office staffed by local hires and an unstaffed American
Corner. All personnel at both locations are accounted for and
safe.
4. (U) Post is in the process of reaching out to wardens to
ascertain the safety of the American community in Bangalore, which
is sizable (approximately 6500),due mainly to the presence of many
U.S. information technology and other companies in the city. We
have no reports at this time of Amcits killed or injured.
5. (U) Post convened an EAC at 1515.
