1. (SBU) On Monday, September 29, 2008, an email threat was
received in the US Embassy Canberra Public Affairs Office
general email (usraustralia@state.gov). The write in threat
was titled "Your Embassy Will Be Attack". Text of the email
is as follows; "We are from Al Qaeda, this email is to inform
you that we will be attacking your embassy with rocket
launchers. Not only that, we will also be killing US
citizens who are currently in Australia. Death to all Jews &
Americans!!!! Long Live Al Qaeda !!!!!"


2. (SBU) Investigative assistance provided by the Australian
Federal Police (AFP) Protective Intelligence Unit (PI) found
that Internet Services Providers (ISP) originated in Jakarta,
Indonesia and Singapore. The following data was cultivated
from the email;

3. (S/NF) Australian Federal Police were unable to ascertain
the veracity of this threat. Legatt and GRPO have been
briefed regarding this email threat. RSO will continue to
work with the Australian Federal Police but would appreciate
any additional investigative assistance from RSOs Jakarta and
Singapore.


4. (SBU) At this point, Post believes the threat information
lacks the specificity and credibility to warrant notifying
American citizens under the Department's No Double Standard
Policy.
