Colin Milner, Director Human Rights and Indigenous Issues
Section, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
responded on July 17 that Canberra has given the Australian
Mission in New York Head of Mission (HOM) discretion on a
decision about participation in the Prisoners of Conscience
public affairs event planned for July 24. Both DFAT and HOM
New York support the idea in principle, Milner said. The
final decision on co-sponsorship will be made by the HOM.
