1. Poloff delivered demarche non-paper, received late on
Friday, May 30, to Damien Hickey, Desk Officer in the Arms
Control Section, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade,
urging that Australia make a strong statement at the June 2-6
IAEA Board meeting supporting the IAEA's investigation,
highlighting Iran's continuing violations of its UNSC
obligations, and urging Iran to comply with its UNSC and IAEA
requirements and to join the P5 plus 1 negotiations.
2. Hickey responded that instructions to the delegation had
already been transmitted but contained instructions along
lines proposed by the United States. He undertook to forward
the non-paper to the Australian delegation to the IAEA Board
meeting.
