1. (U) DCM and German DCM Klaus-Jochen Richard Guhlke
delivered the letter and proposed statement as per reftel to
Karol Mistrik, Director of the Disarmament, OSCE and Counter
Terrorism Department at the Slovak MFA on March 26. Mistrik
had already received the letter and draft statement through
NATO on March 20.
2. (C) Mistrik said Slovakia has no problem with the text as
written. He noted that a March 26 meeting in Brussels had
already agreed on minor stylistic differences changes to the
earlier text. Mistrik added that it is important to
demonstrate that we are doing our utmost to save the
Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty, and that we had
addressed Russian concerns.
