1. (S) On the margins of a meeting on another topic, visiting
EAP/CM Director shared ref A points requesting an update of
China's investigation into Chinese entities' attempts to
supply ring-rolling and flow-forming machines to Pakistan's
missile program with MFA North America and Oceania Affairs
Department Counselor Cong Peiwu on December 19. Cong said he
would pass the information to colleagues in the Arms Control
and Disarmament Department. (Note: MFA Arms Control and
Disarmament Department officials continue to be "unavailable"
to meet with PolOffs since the October 3 announcement of U.S.
arms sales to Taiwan, which prevented detailed discussion of
this issue.)
