(C) As instructed reftel, Poloff provided the proposed agenda
and U.S. participants list for the Friends of Iraq Conference
to Attache Wu Xiaofeng of the Iraq office at the MFA's West
Asian and North African Affairs Department on May 30, and
encouraged Chinese participation at the event. Wu thanked
Poloff for the information and said that China is interested
in the event but has yet to make a final determination on
whether to attend. In a follow-on conversation June 6, Wu
said that China will announce a decision "in the coming
days."
