1. (C) Thai MFA officials were not aware of Iran's First
International Conference on Nuclear Power Plants, Environmental and
Sustainable Development, and are not planning to attend.
Political and Economic Officers delivered reftel demarche November 21
to Ms. Pimpiree Pyramarn, First Secretary, Department of South Asian,
Middle East, and African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr.
Pakawat Srisukwattana, Third Secretary, Peace, Security, and
Disarmament Division, Department of International Organizations,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and to Mr. Benya R. Bhandaraks,
International Relations Officer, Office of Atoms for Peace.
2. (C) Economic Officer also spoke November 21 with Pascal Le
Deunff, First Secretary at the Embassy of France. Le Deunff stated
the French Embassy in Thailand is awaiting instructions from Paris
and may coordinate with the European Union in delivering a demarche,
similar to ours, to the RTG regarding the Iranian conference.
