1. On May 21, Econoff spoke to Ms. Pimchanok Vonkhorporn, Director
of Thailand's Ministry of Commerce's Department of Trade
Negotiations and delivered points in the aide memoire provided per
reftel. Pimchanok said the Ministry of Commerce found the statement
in the aide memoire acceptable. Regarding Doha negotiations on
agricultural trade, Pimchanok said her department was satisfied with
the latest text and was willing to negotiate on the basis of that
text. On food export restrictions, Pimchanok noted that Thailand
had yet to impose any restrictions and had not seen them to be in
their interests, but reserved the right to use restrictions if found
to be necessary.
