1. (C) PolCouns delivered Ref A demarche to Ministry of
Foreign Affairs Director of International Organizations Ayman
Al-Aamiry on September 2. Aamiry did not offer a substantive
response but noted that the GOJ would not "publicly
encourage" the resolution, although "it would like to see the
matter resolved." In response to a question, Aamiry said
that he was unaware of any Russian Embassy diplomatic
outreach to the GOJ regarding the issue.
2. (S) Comment: As reported in Ref B, the GOJ has hesitated
to recognize Kosovo of its own initiative absent a consensus
decision by the OIC or the Arab League. Jordan is also
paying close attention to its equities with Russia (Ref C)
and is not likely to take a public position on Kosovo that
could damage its efforts to bolster ties. End Comment.
