(SBU) EconOff delivered reftel demarche on the Global Maritime
Partnerships (GMP) to Moutasem Al-Saket, Director General of the
Jordan Maritime Authority (JMA) in Aqaba on June 25. Alsaket
reiterated Jordan's commitment to maritime security as evidenced by
its long history of security programs, memoranda of understanding,
and other regional and international maritime agreements in which
the Jordanian government currently participates. He welcomed
Econoff's explanation that GMP was a set of principals which
encompassed many of the activities in Jordan is already involved,
promised to review the GMP materials, and said he looked forward to
further discussing the partnership initiative.
