Embassy Poloff formally advised MFA Americas Desk Chief
Akwasi Agyare on October 6 of the stand-up of Africa Command
and discussed all talking points in reftel. Agyare was well
aware of all AFRICOM issues. He commented that the GOG
understands and appreciates the fact that AFRICOM will
concentrate its efforts on African conflict prevention and
military capacity building, and offered that it "was too bad
that AFRICOM's launch got off to a bad start." He assured
Embassy of Ghana's continuing cooperation with the new
unified command.
