1. Econchief discussed reftel papers with MFA International
Organizations Director Yacub Al-Hosani and passed him copies
on April 24. Al-Hosani said that the papers had arrived just
in time, as the delegation was departing the UAE the next
day. Al-Hosani told econchief that the UAE would review the
papers, but did not commit to co-sponsoring them. He did
note that the UAE's Ambassador to its UN mission in Geneva
would head the delegation, and that two representatives from
the MFA and one from the military would attend from the UAE.
2. The same day, Econchief contacted Hamad Al-Kaabi, the UAE
MFA's envoy for international nuclear cooperation to discuss
the draft paper on Expanding Civil Nuclear Cooperation.
Al-Kaabi promised to evaluate the paper as well.
